Four sessions of men’s round-robin play were staged on Saturday’s (21 April) first day of competition at the World Senior Curling Championships 2018, in Oestersund, Sweden, and in Group A, Australia top the table with two wins, by 7-3 over Slovenia and then by 5-4 after an extra end against defending champions Sweden.

In Group B, Canada, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey all recorded one win, while in Group C, Latvia, Norway and the United States all opened their campaigns with a win. Denmark lead Group D with two wins, by 6-3 over Israel and then 10-6 over Hong Kong.

There were three sessions for the women and each of the fifteen teams taking part have played one game. In Group A, Australia, Canada, Sweden and the United States all won, while the Group B winners were England, Latvia, Scotland and Switzerland.
