In Monday’s (23 April) round-robin play at the World Senior Curling Championships 2018 in Oestersund, Sweden, Canada’s women faced United States in a top-of-the-table clash in women’s Group A.

It was the Canadians who emerged victorious, beating the American women by 8-4 for their fourth win that gives them a clear lead at the top of the table and preserves their unbeaten record. United States are now in a clear second place, while Sweden, two wins behind the Canadian leaders, are third.

In women’s Group B, Scotland and Switzerland share the lead on three wins and no losses. Switzerland beat Ireland by 12-7 on Monday while Scotland were 7-4 winners over Italy.

The men’s event is divided into four Groups, and Australia top Group A on four wins and no losses thanks to their 6-1 win over second-placed Italy. In Group B, Switzerland hold the lead on two wins and no losses, ahead of Canada, France and Germany, who are tied in second place, all also on two wins but each with one loss, having played one game more than the Swiss.

Norway lead Group C following their 5-3 win over Ireland. This fourth victory – without loss so far – means they are two wins ahead of the chasing pack, led by Latvia, who beat Finland by 8-6.

With an extra end win by 6-5 over Poland, Denmark are the leaders in Group D on four wins, having played one game more than second-placed New Zealand
